Did you know?
Over 2/3 of the US population is now considered overweight; half of those people are considered OBESE!
The prevalence of obesity among adolescents aged 12 to 19 years has increased from 5.0% to 18.1%.1,2
Obesity is the result of caloric imbalance (too few calories expended for the amount of calories consumed) and is mediated by genetic, behavioral, and environmental factors. Childhood obesity has both immediate and long-term health impacts:
- Obese youth are more likely to have risk factors for cardiovascular disease, such as high cholesterol or high blood pressure. In a population-based sample of 5 to 17-year-olds, 70% of obese youth had at least one risk factor for cardiovascular disease.5
- Children and adolescents who are obese are at greater risk for bone and joint problems, sleep apnea, and social and psychological problems such as stigmatization and poor self-esteem.3,6
- Obese youth are more likely than youth of normal weight to become overweight or obese adults, and, therefore, are more at risk for associated adult health problems, including heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, several types of cancer, and osteoarthritis.6
The Center for Disease Control has stated that
our youngest generation is the first in decades that is facing
a life expectancy shorter than ours!
But, let’s not get all freaked out and depressed over the alarming stats. That’s not what this is all about. Besides, THERE’S A VERY SIMPLE SOLUTION TO ALL THIS…
According to the CDC, healthy lifestyle habits, including healthy eating and physical activity, can lower the risk of becoming obese and developing related diseases.3
So, there you have it; When kids exercise and eat right, they can avoid all these heinous issues, and at the same time, enjoy their teenaged years looking and feeling fantastic!
It’s really not hard. Kids just need some direction and a structured program specifically designed for their unique needs that they ENJOY attending on a weekly basis…
Chanhassen Fitness Revolution and Miss Teen Boot Camp Provide the Solution Teen Girls Need to Get In Great Shape and Feel Fantastic!
Miss Teen Boot Camp is a specifically designed teen girls exercise and nutrition program based on the International Youth Conditioning Association (IYCA) guidelines. As an IYCA Youth Fitness Specialist (YFS), I have programmed each workout to be both safe and effective for the developing teenaged girl. Plus, I made the workouts FUN so the girls will want to keep coming back!
“I have a deep appreciation for all of the support and inspiration I get from Justin and from the other boot campers. The community they’ve built up is one that is ideal for people like me, who struggle with working out as a beginner. The familiarity is one aspect I feel has helped me to succeed. I used to be extremely shy and uncomfortable with myself, and I now owe most of my security now to boot camp.
It’s hard for me to comprehend how much pain and how much insecurity I felt just one and a half years ago. It had gotten to a point where I hated looking at pictures of myself, and I even had trouble identifying with my peers. I felt the incredible insecurity of being a teenager, and in addition, the pressure to look and act like the individuals I was surrounded by at school. Everyone, it seemed, had an outlet, a sport, that kept them in shape. I didn’t. I had quit the only extra-curricular activity that helped me to stay healthy, because it was too time consuming. I avoided recess, and any activity that would require people seeing me in my weak physical condition.
My mother started attending Boot Camp during the summer of 2009, telling me success stories about each class she went to. She told me how many bands she could lift, how many reps she had accomplished. It seemed like something I would not be able to do. She managed to convince me to come, assuring me that no one would judge me.
My first month of boot camp was tough, physically, but I began to feel great. After each workout, I felt accomplished. I felt I was making progress with every passing day. Everything about me began to feel better. I could talk in front of larger groups, perform more fearlessly in theatre, and I even widened my vocal range in vocal class. People at church and at school told me I looked beautiful, and confident.
Now, over a year later, I can run for miles, dance with my peers at school dances, pose for pictures, perform in plays, race up four stories of stairs with my friends, and I am still making progress. I’m so grateful to Justin and boot camp, knowing that I’d be a completely different person, inside and out, had I not joined a year and a half ago. I love to meet new people at boot camp, seeing that our community is growing. The other boot campers truly inspire me to give it my all, as I see the results of their efforts. I urge anyone who feels insecure about their countenance or wants to reap positive results.”
~ Maddie, age 15

Check out what Amanda, Maddie’s mom, had to say about her daughter’s experience:
“As a mother, I couldn’t be happier. My teenaged daughter joined Justin’s boot camp a few months after I did, and I can honestly say it’s changed her life! She has become self-confident, strong and proud of whom she is.
As a massage therapist who specializes in sports massage and injury rehabilitation, I can attest that trainers of Justin Yule’s caliber are far and few between. He knows how to train clients without injuring them, and he always has an exercise modification to accommodate any physical issue.”
~ Amanda
I must admit, I get a little emotional every time I read Maddie’s letter. But, hey, that’s what this is all about, right?
I remember being in the same boat when I was a pre-teen and young teenager. I struggled with my appearance and lacked self-confidence…
IT TOTALLY SUCKED!
There’s just no better way of saying it. And, you know what? It sucks that other kids feel that way, too.
Well, it’s time we put an end to all of that. Would you agree?

Based on my own experience with Chanhassen Fitness Revolution, this will be a great program. I know the value of setting fitness habits early, I wish I had! Don’t miss the chance to start great habits early and learn from some of the best!
I agree with Terri. This will be an AWESOME program and so beneficial to these girls. I wish I would have had this opportunity when I was a teenager!!!
Hope all the mothers of these girls are willing to help their daughters.
